PHOTOS OF WATER WE FOUND

BETWEEN

VALLEY OF THE SUN AND SHALAL ROAD

Looking on Google Earth map we saw some water and went for a walk on May 24, 2009.  Can we take you for a walk with us out back and above Valley of the Sun and show you a location there may be water which this location is between Valley of the Sun and Shalal Road.

If you drive up the gravel road off Alpine Road towards the White Elephant Gold Mine and take your first left down that road/trail and just down the trail a bit is where these photos were taken.

Click refresh to be sure you see updates.

Please be patient ... it may take the page a while to load as there are many pictures on this page.

LAST UPDATE January 25, 2015

Blue Divider Line

If you took a left following the directions above, you will come across this field where near the end of the field you can see there is a patch of white barked trees that would only grow if there was enough water to feed them.

This is what I call the entrance or beginning of the field because this is
what you will see first, which there is a nice road into this field already.

This is the far end of the field looking back towards the entrance to the field.
You can see a patch of white bark trees in this photo and the water that some animal was playing in just before we got there.

Maybe there is a good source of water under the ground here somewhere in this field.  This field is higher than most of Valley of the Sun.  If there is a good source of water in this field, maybe it would be a cheaper water source than two wells at Lower Fintry??

This is the same pond of surface water as the photo above.
Some animal must have been playing in the water just before we got there,
as the water was all stirred up.  Yikes ... what kind of animal LOL?

There are many of these white barked trees in this field. This photo is looking towards the far end of the field where the largest body of surface water we found was located, and just past the water there is a pile of debris piled up quite high.

Here is a picture of debris piled up at the far end of the field where the largest
body of surface water was found in this field.
We couldn't get past this debris with sandals and bare legs so did not go further.
It is pretty thick past that pile of debris with those red branch shrubs.  One of the neighbour's whom was with me, said it looked like a beaver dam.  Wonder what is down that-a-way further?  Will have to go back and bring a friend to get eaten with me LOL!!

You can see there are lots of white bark trees, which means the trees
must be getting water from somewhere.  This photo was taken
looking towards where we entered the field.

Here is some surface water we found, to the right after you enter the field.

This photo above was taken behind those white trees behind those logs in the photo below.

There is some debris laying in this field and under these logs
you will see in the next picture is some water

Here is some water in this field sitting under the logs in the photo above.

This photo was taken from standing on the far right side of the field looking towards those logs in the photo above, where there could be more water coming down the mountain and collecting into this field.
See the line of white bark trees, this heads over towards that pile of logs in the photo above.

There are actually two larger piles of debris in this field and both piles
have surface water under the debris.

It is hard to see but there is water under this pile of debris as well.

There is some long tall dried grass growing in this one section of debris and some other vegetation growing.

This field is all wet, and you can see there is more than one location in
this field with surface water.  We had to watch where we were walking it was so wet.  This looks more like a ditch that runs through the field.

There is a bit of a ditch running through this field from one end to the other and the whole field is wet.  Maybe there is no place for the water to leave this area as there are  hills on almost all sides, like its a valley that may be collecting water.

This is the far end of the field looking towards where we entered the field.  You can see more how this valley is shaped in this photo here.  There are some red branch shrubs growing in this
field.
You can see the patch of white bark trees about the middle of the field, and the water which is at the far end of the field, if you look in the bottom left of this photo the water is hard to see.

Looks like someone dug a bucket or two of dirt and there is water near the surface where the animals have been drinking.

This field is muddy as you can see this dirt that has been stirred up by something too.
This type of vegetation growing in the mud is a sign of water isn't it?

Here is a photo of some of the vegetation growing in the field.

We found a few patches of mushrooms growing May 24, 2009 in this field as well.

Some more mushrooms.

Life is like nature, not always what your expecting.
This cool tree was found along the road just before the field in these photos.
Just like this tree is different, so are people.
Some need to look at people, like they do the landscape.

So what do you think, do you think we should hire a water witcher for $100 and up, to see what
the water witcher can find??

How about a water users community,
where the community pays to dig the well and operates the water system
instead of the Regional District of Central Okanagan?

Myself, I am beginning to believe that we need to forget the Regional District if they want us to pay that much, and look for water here at that one large pond in Valley of the Sun ... nobody owns that land... it is common property and is part of the subdivision.

One property does have a well near the one large pond, and at one point the person who previously lived there told me it produced 60 gpm, but I haven't seen any paperwork.
