people, I was traveling along with the Penticton Vees Jr.A Hockey team onboard the bus to Quesnel on monday morning and on the highway between Merritt and Kamloops at about 10:30 am we were in quite the snowfall alright?our bus clipped the rear end of one of the snowplows on that highway ok? we ran into it because we could not see it until it was too late as the flashing lights were severely burried in the snow on the back of the truck alright, so my request to the company is to see if you can get the drivers of these snowplows to stop on the side of the highways once in a while to clean the snow off the lights alright, this was a very dangerous situation we were in as we slipped into the ditch after clipping it, oh and the snowplow continued on his way after we clipped him like nothing happened eh? that was putting my life and the lives of everyone on that bus in danger eh? so your assistance in this matter would be greatly appreciated. yours truely, Murray Maxwell

On July 1st, 2010 my car was hit by a flying rock due to an Argo maintenance crew. The crew was cutting the long weeds on the side of the road on Westside Rd. I heard a loud bang and a rock then hit my windshield. I pulled over when it was safe for me to do so, as it is a very dangerous windy road. I looked at my hood and saw no dints, as I was sure there was some damage to my car, by saw no dint in my windshield or car hood. When I reached my destination, I asked my freind to look at my car hood, then he noticed that my plastic reflective rock shield was cracked and broken. Immediately I phoned Agro road maintenance to tell them my story. and so proceeded to call them over and over with no response. A few weeks later I phoned the head office and a very nice helpful woman called Sandy Paulsen spoke with me and said she would get someone from argo to confirm that they were working on westside road. Finally a message was left by Wayne Gabel. He never left a return number and called when I was at work. Finally today, August 16, I got ahold of Wayne Gabel. Basically he told me too bad I never stopped the maintanence crew that was working at the time, I would of if I noticed the damage, and basically, he told me that is life. He said his wife got her car hit by a drunk on a bike and she is stuck with that damage and it is life. He said it is not Argo's policy to pay for damage on this kind of incident. I asked if I were to go to small claims court, if he would be there as a representative, he stated it would be a company lawyer that would be there. How sad I thought for a $150.00 part.

Thank you for the comment about the snowplowing on Hwy. 6 last night. I too experienced this women's frustration. Last night was a really bad night for driving and 2 snow plows who are trying to help us with driving safely were driving irresponsible. They are going so fast and in such a hurry. I was surprised that they never caused an accident. Their driving habits were unacceptable and not appropriate for the driving conditions last night. It seemed like the 2 plows were actually racing to see who can finish the job first. Please control your drivers or they can cause some lives on the road. I was really flustered and actually scared being in front of these guys. They were going way too fast for the snow conditions. Please respond back to me and let me know what is being done with this situation. Thank you, Jenifer A concerned citizen

hwy 97 north at Crystal Waters was sheer ice last night.........the highway in general was very dangerous but the sheer ice at Crystal Waters was unforgivable. Weather warnings started the day before and Argo knew it was coming. There were only 2 or 3 inches of snow and if it had been sanded it would have been fine. I commute from Vernon to Kelowna every day and I am not happy with the road maintenance.

Hi there! My name is Celeste Duya. I have a complaint with your two workers. Last night, Wednesdays, February 25 around 12:15AM in highway 6, I was driving from work your two guys who's doing the snow plow are very aggressive and drove very defensive. I know they're just trying to do their job but tailgating someone, almost bumped others' car and keep honking your horn I don't think that are acceptable. Please let them know their main concern was not the snow but the commuters. You are here for the safety of the commuters not to cause accident because of your attitude. Patience is part of your job. Please, I know it's very late, you want to finished your job as soon as you can but think about it, in a second because of are bad attitudes something bad things happen. Bad things might we regret for the rest of are life. Thank you so much! I know some of you are doing a great job. For some who don't, please, just quit. We don't need you.!

Hello, I am writing to inquire if Argo has the "adopt a road" program, or if you know who is responsible for this program, assuming it exists. I am on the Queens Committee for Queen Silver Star in Vernon, and every year offer the candidates to various volunteer opportunities. Please advise if this is something that we may be able to pursue. Regards Cali Wyatt

You write: "What a waste of time painting every hole on Westside Road with orange and green paint, as if they can't tell what holes need to be filled. You can sure tell where all our money is wasted here! Labour and paint at the very least! This is another waste of your money that you should complain about don't you think? Labour, paint, and all." Dude, the reason those lines are painted around potholes is the system used to indicate to repair crews where to fill... it means those areas are going to be repaired! (Are the road crews blind that they need to paint a circle around a hole in the pavement... how did the guy painting the circle around the hole, see the hole to start with?) Never want to give benefit of the doubt eh?, always jumping to conclusions... why don't you run for election yourself (people are the only ones who can change the mess we are in, not government) or apply for a job with the MoT or volunteer to fight fires in the community... you come across like you know how to do everyone's job, which is way arrogant, so hey, go do it then man! (Taxpayers money could be saved by not painting the holes because it is unnecessary) All you do is complain and ask everyone else to complain, like you are looking for something to complain about every where you look. get a life. (Just trying to point things out is all) things are much better out here than you let on!! -neighbor dude

Since moving here we have been very pleased with the road clearing on Westshore, it is by Argo I believe. I can hear the plow coming up the hill before sunrise when there has been a snowfall and I can say I have rarely seen this kind of service in the many provinces in which I have resided, even in towns with large populations and more houses. I hope they continue to do a great job like I have seen this winter, it is very impressive. Getting to work in the morning is not an issue even after a large dumping of snow (can't phone in for a snow day, oh well!). But take it easy people! Those roads are windy and I often see deer and long horn sheep plus I saw a moose yesterday!!

I keep hearing how the weather is to blame for accidents. When there are 18 vehicles in the ditch CHBC News TV story called "Crashes Galore" at one time in the same area on the Westside, I consider road maintenance to blame. If you look at one accident with possibly two cars involved, fire rescue, ambulance, tow truck, vehicle damage, possible injury, I consider the cost of all that close to what it would cost to purchase one snow plow to start with. It takes two days for the snow plow to plow my subdivision every time. An ambulance got stuck here in my subdivision this year and a neighbor helped push it. The patient was eventually air lifted by helicopter from our subdivision. It is beyond me why the powers that be don't consider road clearing and sanding a priority??? I suggest ICBC start investing in snow plows and sand trucks instead of investing so much money into accidents and injury!

Westside road again from the Vernon end is nearly impassable today with a complete difference once you reach the part of Westside road that is serviced from the Kelowna end. As I travel to Kelowna daily for work it is noted in every instance of snowfall that the Vernon end is terrible and once you reach the end serviced from Kelowna the road is immediately plowed and clear as they are spraying the road in advance of snowfall from that end...nothing from the Vernon end. Much the same as all of the complaints from last year. How do we get the people servicing the road from the Kelowna side to teach the people servicing from the Vernon end on how to do their job...the difference is eventually going to be someone's life as its simply a matter of time.
